When he was 12, his father gifted him with a bass guitar, launching him into a lifetime of musical exploration and pursuit of musical excellence. Over time, Sheldon has created a unique style of play based upon the concept that the bass is not simply an instrument in the back (or background) of a band, but rather "a conduit" between the rhythm and melody of any piece of music regardless of genre—from jazz and funk to fusion and pop and rock and everything in between.

With over twenty years of experience, Sheldon is an established performer who has collaborated with many of the world's most renowned musicians, such as Louiz Banks, Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and Niladri Kumar as well as global superstars including John McLaughlin, George Duke, Al Jarreau, and Mike Stern—exhibiting he is an extremely versatile player in numerous styles from countless countries.

His international performance credits include stints at elite festivals such as the Montre?al Jazz Festival, Borneo Jazz Festival, Java Jazz Festival, and Cape Town Jazz Festival, and also with fusion bands such as Naad Brahma, SiTARFUNK, Louiz Banks Matrixx, and India’s top rock band INDUS Creed. Sheldon’s musical influence spans across continents, including being a Music Ambassador for Asia at the John F. Kennedy Center in WWashington,D.C.

Apart from stage performances, Sheldon’s work as a composer and producer also includes recording for many Bollywood albums, international albums, and fusion projects, thus showcasing his versatility as a composer and producer.
