Sharib Hashmi was born on 25 January 1976 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He grew up in a middle-class family, and his father Z. A. Johar was a respected film journalist. Sharib studied at St. John’s Model English High School and later graduated from Bhavan’s College in Mumbai. His early exposure to cinema and media inspired him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Before becoming an actor, he worked behind the scenes in television production and was part of the crew of MTV Roadies Season 2. His early acting career included a small role in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
