Nimesh Patel is an Indian-origin American stand-up comedian, writer, and live performer known for his sharp observational humor, bold storytelling, and witty social commentary. Based in New York City, he has become one of the prominent Indian-origin comedians performing on major comedy stages across the United States.

Nimesh Patel was born in 1986 in Parsippany, New Jersey, to Indian immigrant parents from Gujarat. He studied finance at New York University and initially worked a regular job while performing stand-up comedy at night. Through years of performing in comedy clubs and open-mic events, he gradually built his reputation as a skilled joke writer and stand-up performer.

A major turning point in his career came when legendary comedian Chris Rock discovered him performing stand-up and hired him to write for the 88th Academy Awards ceremony. This opportunity helped launch Patel’s career as a comedy writer in mainstream entertainment.

In 2017, Nimesh Patel made history by becoming the first Indian-American writer for Saturday Night Live, where he contributed jokes mainly for the “Weekend Update” segment. His work on the show earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, establishing him as a respected comedy writer in the industry.
