Megha Rawoot is an Indian sitar player with a reputation for being an expert in Hindustani Classical Music and also Contemporary Fusion. She is a disciple of Sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee and began her musical career at a young age. Through hard work and a large number of years of training under various mentors including Pt. Madan Shankar Mishra and Pt. Deepti Mishra, she has developed her art to become a talented sitarist with an individual artistic voice. She has degrees in Hindustani Music (Sitar) and performing arts, which provide a solid academic base for her traditional Indian music experience.
Megha has participated in numerous national performance competitions and on many prestigious stages in India. Her art combines the strictness of classical art forms with the modern & contemporary style of music, allowing her to create performances that appeal to both purists and modern-day listeners.
Megha's work is not just limited to performing Western Classical music concerts; she has also participated in many new and unique collaborations and musical moments that demonstrate her ability to adapt to diverse musical styles and her creativity. In February 2025, she became popular when famous British singer/summer songwriter Ed Sheeran posted a video of himself learning to play the sitar to his hit song "Shape of You" with Megha's help, showing how Megha can bridge the traditional Indian musical instrument and International music culture.
Her original singles; such as "Rasiya" and "Bhatiyar (Wheels of Raaga)," along with many others, continue to reflect Megha's versatility and creativity. She always strives to find ways that music can express the culture, beauty and love of her homeland. Megah Rawoot is a talented artist with a diverse creative and musical background.
