About Zulfikar AK Sabri
Zulfikar Ahmed Khan, born on 29th April 1963, is a renowned Indian ghazal singer with a soulful voice and deep impact on the genre. Coming from a lawyer and advocate family, Zulfikar had his heart set on becoming a pilot initially but soon took up his real passion, which was music. His musical sojourn was deeply impacted by his formal training under Ustad Abdul Aziz, grandson of the great Bade Ghulam Ali Khan of the Patiala Gharana, and Ustad Fareed Ahmed Khan of the Kirana Gharana. This strict classical training formed a good basis for his later work in ghazal singing.
In 1987, Zulfikar's remarkable talent was appreciated when he was awarded Best Ghazal Singer and Sufi Singer at Oasis Bitts Pilani. It was the initiation of a rewarding career marked with numerous ghazal nights as well as solo performances. His voice and expression have enthralled listeners in India as well as abroad with shows in Dubai, Jakarta, Bangladesh, Singapore, and all over India with performances in places like Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Chennai.
Apart from live shows, Zulfikar has worked with numerous corporate clients, providing voiceovers for events of companies like Swardharar, Airtel, and Hindustan Times. His versatility and capacity to appeal to different audiences have established him as a popular performer in corporate and cultural circles alike.
Apart from his singing career, Zulfikar has also adapted to the digital age by connecting with his audience on social media platforms. He has been involved in digital concerts, including A&M Studio's 5th Digital Concert, the Freedom Festival, where he exposed his music to the world. This flexibility reflects his dedication to adapting to the times while keeping alive the rich heritage of ghazal music.
