The Voodoo Child is a prominent Romanian rock band formed in 2018 by lead guitarist Andrei Cerbu, bassist Robert Ciubotaru, and drummer Teodor Cu?nir. Initially focusing on blues-rock, they collaborated with vocalist Alexandra Dodoi and quickly gained recognition by performing at major blues-rock festivals across Romania between 2018 and 2020. Their debut album, Some Kind of Blues, was released during this period, followed by a nationwide promotional tour. The band was recognized for their talent by the Muzza Foundation, winning "Best Newcomer of the Year" in 2018 and "Confirmation of the Year" in 2019. In 2021, the band invited lead vocalist Romina Apostol, nicknamed Rockmina, who had already made national headlines from finishing third on the television show Superstar România that very year.
With Rockmina, The Voodoo Child started developing their second album in the studios. They posted several singles all over digital outlets during the times of the COVID-19. Their live acts now include equal parts of music from both records and hits taken from popular and well-known repertoire, giving some energetic shows appreciated by the viewers. The Voodoo Child has continued to spread their reach through national tours and performances in Bucharest, Buz?u, and Constan?a. The pandemic also had its challenges: the international tour was canceled, but the band did not give up; instead, they used this time to produce new music and stay connected with their fans through digital releases.
Their commitment to their craft and energetic stage presence have made The Voodoo Child a major player in the Romanian rock scene, with an increasingly enthusiastic fan base eagerly awaiting their next projects and performances.
