About Spit Dope Inc

Spit Dope started as people coming together of different backgrounds, cyphering and battling it out on the streets or jamming in the public parks. It evolved into a movement over the years, drawing eyeballs and consistently putting out classic events while providing hip-hop a platform where artists could grow and talent got developed. It also serves as an engaging interactive fan experience where the crowd is the focal point.

What do we do?

We seek to provide the right representation of the elements of hip-hop and celebrate the culture with every opportunity we get. From doing events/gigs like Open Mics to hosting a proper shows in Delhi University, an usual itinerary goes like

Live sets - The performing artists are handpicked and are masters of their craft and are usually the most recognized piece of the puzzle, it follows a timed performance layout.

Cyphers - A free flow of rhythms and lyrics where anybody could join in regardless of being an amateur or being an audience member. A circle is created where people take turns showcasing what they got; it is the hip-hop open mic version.

Battle rap: The most vicious rappers could get; this layout is between two rappers where both are pinned against each other and go back and forth to determine a winner, like a boxing match where the punches are packed by the pen of the battler or his wordsmith skills.

Showcases: They follow the same layout as live sets but are showcases and primarily meant for artists with mad potential. Its length is shorter than the live sets as it is done usually as a chance to the newcomers to come through or to introduce a special or an unique act.

Workshops/panel discussions: It's an interactive discussion or a workshop where the fans become performers and have the chance to directly interact with them. Workshops are done more specializedly; for example, we hosted a B-boying workshop with Aastik, one of the most recognized and talented dancers representing hip-hop.
