Sonu Nigam is one of the most celebrated playback singers of Bollywood. Known for his versatile voice and depth of emotion, Sonu Nigam was born on July 30, 1973, in Faridabad, India. He was performing since a very young age along with his father, Agam Kumar Nigam, who was a professional singer. His career journey began when he shifted to Mumbai in search of a singing career.
Nigam achieved fame with his first super hit song, "Accha Sila Diya," from the movie Bewafa Sanam (1995). But it was the song "Sandese Aate Hain" from Border (1997) and the album Deewana (1999) that put him on the map in the music world. Since then, he has come up with numerous chart-toppers like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin, and “Suraj Hua Maddham.”
Sonu Nigam has the voice that cuts across all genres. He does it all—be it a romantic ballad, a soulful ghazal, or an upbeat dance track. He has sung in more than one Indian language—Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, and Marathi—and has thus been a pan-Indian sensation. He has also had an incredible career as a live performer.
Apart from his career as a singer, Nigam has also acted and hosted various shows. His most memorable stint was as the anchor of the popular music show *Sa Re Ga Ma* in the 1990s. He also served as a mentor and judge for several singing reality shows to inspire young artists.
Sonu Nigam has received many accolades, including Filmfare and National Film Awards, for his contributions to Indian music. Known for his humility and dedication, he continues to influence and shape the music industry, leaving an indelible mark as one of India's finest vocalists.
