About Siddharth Basrur
Siddharth Basrur is an Indian singer, composer, and playback artist who is well known for his versatility in various genres of music. Born in 1981, he got interested in music at a very young age due to his family's love for traditional rock and roll. Alternative rock was his favorite genre at the age of 15.
After dropping out of college in his first year, Basrur did some part-time work in a music shop and later on got a diploma in audio engineering. He began his career working in audio post-production for movies and later worked as a content writer for Channel V in 2008. Yet, because of his interest in music, he devoted himself to it.
Basrur started his career playing with the band Kinky Ski Munky and went on to become the lead singer for Mumbai's progressive metal band, Goddess Gagged. He has also been part of other groups such as Last Remaining Light and Runt. His solo effort is the album "Chasing Rain," which came out in two chapters in 2013.
Basrur established himself in Bollywood by providing vocals for movies like "Haunted 3D," "Players," and "David." In 2016, he provided the voice for the Hindi version of "We Know the Way" for Disney's animated movie "Moana." He has also performed live at different events, including opening for Norah Jones at the 'A Summer's Day' music festival in Mumbai in 2013.
Basrur's musical genre varies from punk and indie rock to metal. His work in the independent music circuit as well as Bollywood has made him a varied and powerful music artist in Indian music.
