Shibani Dandekar Akhtar was born on August 27, 1981, in Pune, Maharashtra. She is an Indian-Australian singer, actress, anchor, and model. She grew up in Australia and Africa before starting her career in American television, where she anchored programs such as Namaste America, V Desi, and The Asian Variety Show, presenting Bollywood celebrities to U.S. viewers.
After going back to India, Shibani turned out to be a well-known TV personality very soon. She presented programs such as After Hours on Zee Café, Men 2.0 on AXN, and India's Glam Diva on Big CBS Love. Her national popularity reached its height when she was co-hosting Extraa Innings—T20 during the IPL from 2011 to 2015, where her lively and trendy appearance made her a critical hit.
Shibani also ventured into acting, with appearances in films like Roy, Shaandaar, Sultan, Noor, and Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. She demonstrated her dancing talent in the Marathi film Timepass with the hit song "Hi Poli Saajuk Tupatli."
In reality shows, she appeared in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, where she got praised for her performance and on-screen presence. She co-hosted the inauguration ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 with international stars.
In 2025, Shibani co-created the Netflix crime drama series Dabba Cartel, produced by Excel Entertainment. The series follows a group of women running a secret drug cartel behind a food delivery service, highlighting Shibani’s growing creative role in the industry.
