About Samira Koppikar

Samira Koppikar was born in Bandra, Mumbai, into a Konkani Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin family. She has been a multitalented music director, composer, singer, and songwriter in the Indian music industry.

Samira was the granddaughter of Indian classical singers on both sides. Her father, a cardiologist who was an enthusiastic listener to music across genres, introduced her to legends like Kishore Kumar, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson. Her parents identified that she had an ear for music and encouraged her to take her initial training seriously from the tender age of three years.

In 2014, Samira made her Bollywood playback singing debut with the song "Aaj Phir Tum Pe" for the film Hate Story 2 The track achieved significant acclaim, reaching number 7 in the top 10 Bollywood songs of 2014.

The following year, she debuted as a Bollywood composer with "Maati Ka Palang" for the film NH10, showcasing her multifaceted talent in the industry.

Besides her Bollywood journey, Samira experimented with various sounds: acoustic folk, indie rock, fusion, jazz, indie pop, folktronica, and alt folk rock, as well as ghazals. A testament to the artist's potential, Samira performed at one of the greatest Montreal International Jazz Festivals. This establishes that the reach of this vocalist transcends continents and styles.

In 2023, Samira expanded her catalogue by releasing multiple independent music singles. Some notable songs include "Prem Scam," "Baat Kya Hai," "Sang Baarishon Ke," "Boondon Ki Saazish," "Iss Dil Ka," "Mohabbat Ki Wajah," "Shartiya," "World Cup Yeh Humara Hai," and "Tere Mere." All these pieces represent her intention to explore every corner of music and her earnest dedication to this work.

Industry recognition has come to Samira in the form of Best Music Album at the 63rd Filmfare Awards for *Bareilly Ki Barfi* and Female Vocalist of the Year at the 10th Mirchi Music Awards for the song "Bairaagi" in the same film.
