About R.p. Malhotra
R.P. Malhotra, who comes from Hindustani Khayal, is in essence an Indian singer paying tribute to Mukesh, the legendary Bollywood playback singer. Because of his love for yesteryear's melodramatic songs, R.P. Malhotra has made a name for himself in the music firmament slightly away from the normative standards of Mukesh, the singer of poignant, tearjerker songs.
The almost identical tone and rendition of Mukesh by R.P. Malhotra have enthralled audiences for many decades on his concerts. The golden-era Bollywood song lovers especially cherish his live performance. Tribute concerts are guided nostalgic trips back to the days of Mukesh, with songs such as "Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan," "Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein," "Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaye," and many more in their set list.
Among his larger tribute performances, the one at Arya Auditorium in Delhi in 2013 greatly impressed the audience with performances of Mukesh's hit song "Sawan Ka Mahina" alongside singer Ashu Arora, making it a memorable event. The event was a grand success and earned immense appreciation from the critics and the public.
Preserving Mukeshji's legacy for Malhotra is not only a tribute to the maestro but also an attempt to keep the charm of old Bollywood songs vibrant for the upcoming generations. Overwhelming audience feedback for his medley tribute to Mukesh's songs in January 2025 proved the reality that the magic of such songs still lingers on the hearts of people.
He would appear onstage live with his Musical Night—A tribute to Mukesh Ji—on March 9, 2025, at Brijmohan Munjal Vedic Kendra, Delhi. The event promises to be yet another mellifluous affair with Mukesh's unforgettable songs.
Through R.P. Malhotra's compelling, heartfelt performances, he has become the torchbearer for Mukesh Ji's music legacy, ensuring that classic Indian cinema melodies will continue to caress and inspire millions of hearts for generations to come.
