About Rock N Raaga
'Rock' is the base of western music, and 'Raaga' is the essence of Indian classical music, so ROCK 'N' RAAGA brings to you the purest form of Indian music mixed with the western touch of electric guitar, stylish bass, and groovy drum beats. Rock 'N' Raaga aims to take Indian music to the masses. We have experimented with classical, semi-classical, folk, and Sufi music and have made them entertaining for the youth of today.
The band members include:
Divyanshu Sharma : (LEAD VOCALS)
He belongs to a classical music background and started learning music at a very tender age. He has completed his Master’s in Hindustani Classical Vocal from Ramjas College (D.U.) and has also been trained under Guru Shishya Parampara from India. He is a versatile singer and very passionate about music. In addition to this, he also plays Rhythm Guitar.
Shravan Kumar : (LEAD GUITAR/BACKING VOCALS)
Started at the age of 9, Shravan belongs to a classical music background. Shravan has a base of classical and understands Raags very well, therefore being able to contribute towards the band's success. He has the ability to hit perfect notes. Shravan also learned classical singing from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya for 2 years.Apart from his guitars, Shravan also adds precious backing vocals to the band.
Sumit Shrestha : (BASS/BACKING VOCALS)
He's one of those people in the band who would come up with idiosyncratic outlooks to motivate everyone in the band every day. He is an individual with a professional experience of 9 years in this field He has taken exams to complete 2 grades from Rock school.He's very good at singing and works on soprano, alto, tenor and bass when he adds his precious backing vocals to our band. This fabulous bassist has shared the stage with Abhijeet Sawant, Kalpana Potwary, Guru Randhwa, Hardy Sandhu and Shibani Kashyap. He's a metalhead and he listens to alternative Rock and thrash metal to improvise more in time.We take pride in announcing that he's won the best bassist award on many occasions.
Rajat Gupta : (drummer/percussionist)
He is definitely one of the backbones for our band.He has been playing the instrument for 8 years now.He has shared the stage with Shankar Mahadevan and M. Chang (Indian idol fame). Currently, he is taking grade exams from Rock School of Canada (drumeo). We'd also like to mention that he has been playing instruments like cajon, darbooka, calimba, djambe, bonga, and Congo professionally for years now. He is more into Indian classical, Bollywood, blues, rock, jazz, alternative rock, and country music and keeps on experimenting every now and then. He's a singer who's more of a drummer.
