He hasn’t been a star in mathematics but a topper in English which enticed him to take literature as major after graduating in sciences. His intense interest in literature (both contemporary and classic) made him come out with flying colors in academics scoring 4th position in MA (English). He also pursued Phd in English(his topic being studies in Indian Cinema) for an year but left it in middle because he got his first job in Radio. He has also been organising various state and international level workshops and camps on radion, anchoring, communications, theater, journalism, social and humanitarian issues, stress management and spirituality.

Apart from padhai-shadhai, this guy is a good sportsperson, (has been the captain of the hi-sec school cricket team and also played for the university soccer team) and a great debater at college and university level, has won two prizes in the short story writing competition organized by the university of Jammu, participated in various college and university level cultural feasts and has been THE CULTURAL SECRETARY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU during the year 2006.

He holds the credit of re-establishing the college newspaper in his college after 65 years and has been the editor of the same for two years. He also got selected by Wipro during his graduation in campus but didn’t accept the job as he wanted to pursue his growth in academics.

1. He was so good in academics then why radio?

He actually got into Radio by default (through campus selection) but ever since, Radio has really influenced his life to such extent that he never explored any other field for his career….he feels so related and belonged to radio that he plans to spend my future exploring more and more into it only

2.How does he connect with audience?

He plays the music of listeners choice, suiting the mood of the night,talks to them live at that time when they are all alone and are in desperate need of a company, he listen to them profoundly, and usually talk of the topics on my show which they really want to listen to….making d mood live...

Now talking about this show HOSTEL CLASSICS. This was a show for which every one staired at  the clock ki "kab 11 baje and show aye". No doubt hostel classics and RJ RAHUL MAKIN these two things go hand in hand.. And we all know no one could ever have done justice to d show... Than RJ RAHUL MAKIN himself.

Rahul used to post the Topic of the Nyt on His Facebook page which Fetched Him thousands of comments till night.His status update on Facebook fetched him more than a thousand comments in fifteen minutes,
girls used to skip their meals when his late night show Hostel Classics didn't Air on Weekends,girls still have his wallpapers in their hostel rooms, laptops and mobiles, every night on his show he receives several dating proposals and young boys come all the way to his gym and joggers’ park in the morning to seek advice regarding various things.

Hostel Classics was surely a hit because it appealed the masses of all classes, all age groups, both sexes, and takes them down to their memory lane.

USP of the Show was that its the only show in town which is the voice of the students. It was a late night show in which Rahul Makin, with his baritone voice and natural poetic style used to be a companion to young hearts, youth in love, teenagers getting Infatuated, lovers, and kids. This show contained famous Romantic couplets, advices, chats, etc matching with suitable night Songs. Romanticism was the main feature of the show.

This show in no time gained a CULT status and Rahul is still remembered by listeners for his creativity and innovation that he had put in a mid night show.

In 2012 he started his journey with OYE FM(now Ishq FM) with the night show ISHQIYA. As it was expected, he started ruling hearts once again, this time with a different content. He started LOYALTY TEST and CONFESSIONS for the first time in the history of INDIAN RADIO.
After a 3 years long journey, he shifted to FEVER 104 FM DELHI where he started his show called PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA.
