OX7GEN is based on the mind of Mumbai musician Aditya Ashok, one of India's first artists in the electronic and drum and bass music scene. With strong roots as a drummer, Ashok created OX7GEN to blend live players with electronic production. His sound combines bass-oriented drum-and-bass with ambient textures and lush synth layers, promising a listening experience that's both cinematic and emotional.
As a solo project, OX7GEN gained early acclaim in Indian festivals NH7 Weekender, Sunburn, and Bass Camp. He has since teamed up with international artists like London Elektricity, Netsky, KOAN Sound, and others to affirm his stature as one of India's best live electronic acts.
In 2014, Ashok opened OX7GEN as a live band project: OX7GEN Live. This included prominent Indian musicians such as Bradley Tellis (guitar and samplers), Rohan Rajadhakshya (keys), Suraj Manik (bass), and Donn Bhat (guitar), with Ashok playing drums and synths. The objective was, interestingly enough, to impart a powerful organic performance setup to what had become his studio creations on stage.
Aside from this project, Ashok played drums for progressive metal band Skyharbor from 2014 to 2018. During this time, he toured worldwide, sharing stages with bands like Deftones and BABYMETAL, displaying his versatility as a performer.
International attention has thus far greeted OX7GEN's studio work. His track "Trinity" was featured on the New Blood compilation for Med School Music in the UK in 2018. Another, "Kodachrome Sky," was released on ProgRAM, a sub-label of the legendary RAM Records. He also contributed a remix of U2's "You're The Best Thing About Me" in 2019 as part of a JioSaavn Artist Originals tribute to U2's first concert in India.
Aditya Ashok continues to stretch the threads of electronic music in India through OX7GEN. His immersive soundscapes and rhythm innovations put him on the cutting edge of India's sonic evolution as a solo act or bandleader.
