About Major Vivek Jacob

Major Vivek Jacob is an eminent veteran of the Indian Army's 9 Para (Special Forces) unit. He served in this regiment for 14 long years, after which he had to retire due to a spinal cord injury. His so-called journey began with rigorous training in the National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, followed by one of the toughest Special Forces selection procedures in the world. He was leading extremely high-risk operations in extreme conditions during his entire military career.

It was during a UN mission in East Africa that he had one of the most rejuvenating experiences, which redefined his understanding of purpose and freedom. Trying to revalidate his defenses in life, he didn't completely have it all as his life took an absolutely unplanned turn of events when a parachuting accident caused a major spinal injury and pushed him into premature retirement. Instead of taking that as a setback, Major Jacob considered it an opportunity to empower others.

He founded Team CLAW (Conquer Land Air Water) in the year 2019, consisting of former Special Forces operators whose objective was to use adaptive adventure sports for empowering people with disabilities. His vision was to change the perception of society and to show that one's physically challenging limitations cannot define his potential.

One of his biggest initiatives is Operation Blue Freedom, which rehabilitates, trains, and offers employment opportunities to persons with disabilities, especially in terms of environmental conservation and sustainability. His leadership saw in September 2021 a team of eight persons diagnosed with disabilities successfully reach Kumar Post on the Siachen Glacier at 15,632 feet, challenging extremely cold, deeply crevassed, and harsh terrain conditions. This historic expedition into the frozen wasteland stood for resilience and inclusivity.

In addition to CLAW, Major Jacob is a public speaker, mentor, and digital creator who shares his perspectives on resilience, leadership, and spirituality. His motivational content shared on popular platforms such as YouTube and Instagram has gifted inspiration to thousands. His journey from being a Special Forces warrior to a social-impact leader is a story of strength, adaptability, and vision.

Jacob continues to reinvent perceptions of disability through relentless work toward realizing human potential and showing that true warriors never quit—they merely reassign their missions at different stages.
