Lieutenant General Raymond Joseph Noronha (Retd.), PVSM, AVSM**, SM, is a veteran of more than 40 years' experience in the Indian Army, who has been known for his leadership in combat and strategic operations.
Military Career and Achievements
Commissioned in the Rajput Regiment, Lt Gen Noronha served in crucial positions in different high-intensity areas, such as the Indo-Pak and Indo-China borders, and for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and Northeast India. Interestingly, he was also the General Officer Commanding of the 8 Mountain Division during the 1999 Kargil War, where he was instrumental in remembering the triumph.
In 2014, he was made the General Officer Commanding of the XVII Corps, popularly referred to as the 'Strike Corps,' a specialized strike force intended to repel dangers along India's northern frontier. His service ended with his retirement as the Chief of Staff of the Southern Command.

Academic Pursuits and Leadership Training
A 'scholar-soldier,' Lt Gen Noronha is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune, and the National Defence College, New Delhi. He has two MPhil degrees and is working on a Ph.D. from Pune University. Apart from his professional military career, he is a popular speaker and facilitator, running leadership training programs for numerous corporate bodies.
