About Jasleen Aulakh
Jasleen Aulakh is a musician and songwriter whose soulful integration of folk roots with modern sounds has made her a favorite among listeners. Operating from Chandigarh, she weaves music that speaks directly to the heart, inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Himachal, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Her music is an amalgamation of earthy folk beats, dainty melodies, and poignant lyrics that delve into the intricacies of life with honesty and poise.
At a very young age, Jasleen had a natural bent towards music, converting school poems into songs. Though not born into a professional musical background, her passion for music was never derailed. Having pursued her master's degree in French, she took the bold step to pursue her real passion—making music. With the encouragement of her mother, Pauli Saghera, who now pens a good number of her songs, Jasleen pursued her musical career with conviction and imagination.
Jasleen and her mom work together as the act "Just Ittefaaq" and create music that defies genre and shares common, universal themes of love, desire, and the constantly changing world of life. Their music received widespread acclaim when their folk "Chamba" made it into a Bollywood movie, and another song, "Qyun Jaage," found its way into the movie "Bawari Chhori." Even a high-end fashion designer like Manish Malhotra picked out one of their songs for use in his collection, spreading their popularity even further.
Jasleen has entertained at major festivals and shows, mesmerizing listeners with her powerful voice and evocative storytelling. With her talent for blending traditional folk music with contemporary influences, Jasleen is an artist unlike any other, spanning the divide between past and present.
