Janaki has had training in Carnatic music from Shobha Shekhar since the age of six. Her music background branched out into the West with the help of training at Jaanz Music Academy at nine. As such, her exposure makes her eligible for rendering music ranging from Indian classical to pop to contemporary and beyond, giving her versatility in performances. She is also a violin and ukulele player, which shows her commitment to her craft.
In 2020, Janaki released her debut single, "Clown," which was written during the Melbourne lockdown. This track was her first foray into songwriting and showed her depth as a creative artist. Janaki is known for fusing her Indian roots with contemporary music styles, often infusing aspects of her cultural identity into her performances.
Her family has played a very important role in nurturing her musical journey. Her father is an active singer in Melbourne's Malayalam-speaking community, and her uncle, Arun Gopan, is a playback singer in Indian cinema. These influences have helped shape her artistic identity.
In 2023, Janaki entered the Malayalam film arena, further establishing her artistic background. As one of the global music industry's rising stars, she continues to enchant audiences through her unique voice, cultural mix, and strong passion for the art. Easwar is a promising talent with a very bright future in front of him.
