Dipa Karmakar is one of India’s most celebrated gymnasts and a true pioneer in Indian sport. Hailing from Agartala, Tripura, she defied expectations and became the first Indian woman to qualify for an Olympic gymnastics final, finishing an extraordinary fourth in the women’s vault at the 2016 Rio Olympics—just 0.15 points shy of a medal.
