Debojit Saha is an Indian playback singer who has made contributions to Hindi, Bengali, and Assamese films. Debojit was born on November 17, 1973, in Silchar, Assam. Since childhood, he had an interest in music, which later led him to national fame.
His big break came in 2005 when he appeared on the hit singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, on Zee TV. Placed in Ismail Darbar's "Yalgaar Ho Gharana," Debojit's soulful singing struck a chord with listeners all over India. On February 24, 2006, he was declared the winner, and he was given the title "Voice of India." His win was significantly aided by massive voting campaigns in the Northeast states, an indication of his popularity in the region.
After his victory, Debojit turned to playback singing, providing voices for Bollywood movies like "88 Antop Hill" and "Jimmy." He also contributed immensely to Assamese films, some popular numbers being "O Mure Jaan" from "Junda Iman Gunda." His knack for singing in any genre is reflected in his skill to sing in genres like classical, pop, rock, ghazal, and sufi.
Apart from his career in singing, Debojit ventured into other aspects of the entertainment sector. He was a celebrity contestant on the reality television show "Bigg Boss" in its second season, in 2008. He also functioned as an anchor for the singing reality program 2006, 2007, and 2008 Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa and was a grand jury member for Zee TV's SaReGaMaPa Lil Champs in 2017.
