About Ash King
Ash King, born Ashutosh Ganguly on the 3rd of August, 1980, in London, England, is a British Indian singer-songwriter. He belongs to a family with a musical background; his grandfather was a colleague of the renowned poet and musician Rabindranath Tagore, and his father worked with the famous sitar maestro Ravi Shankar. Not being formally trained in singing, Ash only knew music from his childhood and used his natural ability and the love for music to develop his skills.
He began his career in the UK, recording songs such as "Love Is Blind" with Ramzi and making guest appearances on songs by artists such as Hard Kaur. His break came in 2009, when A. R. Rahman approached him to sing "Dil Gira Dafatan" for the film "Delhi-6." This led him into the world of Bollywood music, where his velvety, soulful voice was soon in demand.
After his entry, Ash recorded a number of hit tracks, such as "Te Amo" for "Dum Maaro Dum" and "I Love You" from "Bodyguard." His uncanny talent at blending Western styles with Indian appeal made him one of a kind in the world of music. He sang several successful films with ease, bringing out his wide range of adaptations, from romantic duets to chart-topping numbers.
Outside of Bollywood, Ash King has also left his own imprint on the global music landscape. He performed at high-profile events such as the Glastonbury Festival and worked on international projects, such as a remix of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" for the Asian market. His work on MTV India's "MTV Unplugged" also showcased his singing talent and capacity to render live performances with raw emotion.
