Anwesshaa is a talented Indian playback singer who possesses a versatile voice and can sing in different languages and genres. Born on 15th September 1993 in Kolkata, West Bengal, she had a deep love for music since childhood and learned classical singing as a child. Her passion and skill were clearly evident when she appeared on the reality television show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs in 2007, where she won over audiences and judges, emerging as a runner-up. She debuted in playback singing with the song "Thirak Thirak" in Mirch (2010), but it was her hauntingly gorgeous song "Tum Mile" from Ragini MMS that brought her into the spotlight. Anwesshaa's voice, clarity, elegance, and emotional depth soon made her a popular singer in the Indian music scene.
Throughout the years, she has provided vocals for songs in many languages, such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, and Gujarati, and has gained much popularity throughout India. Her version of "Jalte Diye" in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo demonstrated her classical background, whereas her contribution in regional films presented her versatility as an artist.
Apart from playback, Anwesshaa has ventured into independent music as well, incorporating styles such as ghazal, semi-classical, and fusion contemporary into her solo projects. She is equally a performing phenomenon who excels live, with stage charm and technical poise to spare.
