Urvashi Radadiya, fondly referred to as the "Koyal of Kathiawar," is a popular Gujarati folk singer admired for her sweet voice and contribution to Gujarati music. She was born on May 25, 1990, in the Amreli district of Kathiawar, Gujarat. She grew up in Ahmedabad. Since childhood, Urvashi had a natural inclination towards singing, which was inspired by her family background since her parents and grandfather used to sing Garba songs during weddings. She knew classical music at the age of three, and she started her singing career at the age of six. Having initially dreamed of being a police officer, Urvashi's love for music took her onto the stage. She began her career singing at Garba programs, earning small sums, but her hard work and talent took her to global stages. Now, she is a top-notch singer in Gujarat, singing in various languages, such as Hindi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Punjabi, and Marathi. Her range includes genres like ghazal, bhajan, and qawwali.
Urvashi's performances are marred by neither her energetic on-stage presence nor her capacity for connecting with spectators. One would recall an incidence of her mass popularity when there was a case of currency note showering following a performance from her fans.
