About Nikhil DSouza

Nikhil D'Souza, born November 21, 1981, in Mumbai, India, is a prolific singer, songwriter, and guitarist with a distinct fusion of acoustic pop, alternative rock, and indie sounds. While he studied Geology at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, his passion for music was so profound that he soon turned to music as a profession, where his soulful vocals and introspective songs soon won him recognition in the industry.

His music is characterized by lush acoustic melodies and signature alternative guitar tunings, influenced by Sting, Jeff Buckley, and Radiohead. This blend of influences made him create a niche for himself in the music scene. Nikhil initially became well known in 2009 when he was awarded the South Asia Soloist award at SUTASI, a major music competition. This success saw him open doors overseas, with him signing a record contract with East West Records, a label owned by Warner Music UK, through which he dropped singles such as "Silver and Gold" and "Beautiful Mind."

Aside from his solo efforts, Nikhil has also become known as a popular Bollywood playback singer. He initiated his career as a Bollywood artist with the rendition of "Shaam" from the movie "Aisha" and followed with hit songs like "Mere Bina" from "Crook," "Anjaana Anjaani Ki Kahani" from "Anjaana Anjaani," and "O Gujariya" from "Queen."
