About Kumail Hamid

Kumail Hamid is a creative producer, vocalist, and stage performer hailing from Mumbai, India, presently resident in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2015, Kumail burst on to the Indian music scene and has since gone from strength to strength with a mesmerizing sound based on fusion styles of ambient sounds, broken beats, and soundscape experiments. His tracks combine thundering bass-filled beats, subtle live recordings, and ethereal rhythm to evoke an intense atmosphere when listened to.

He dropped his first EP, "Flashbulb Memories," in 2015 and then followed it up with his debut full-length album "Links" in 2016. These albums demonstrated his skill in combining lo-fi beats, jazz trends, and hip-hop with his music, creating an emotional resonance with listeners. Kumail's music tends to delve into personal reflections, rendering his feelings as sonic landscapes that are both personal and expansive in nature.

Live shows are an integral part of Kumail's work. He has performed at world-class festivals such as Magnetic Fields in India and Dimensions Festival in Croatia. One of the biggest career milestones was achieved in 2017 when he headlined The Humming Tree in Bengaluru for the globally acclaimed Boiler Room series, a show that brought international acclaim to his work.

Aside from his solo music, Kumail is also a co-founder of Knowmad Records, an independent record label he began with fellow musician Aazin Printer. The label has helped develop India's alternative music scene by creating a platform for up-and-coming experimental musicians.
