About Jaan Nissar Lone
Jaan Nissar Lone, who was born on October 5, 1987, in Kashmir, is a renowned Indian composer, singer, and musician celebrated for his work in Bollywood as well as Kashmiri music. His musical career is characterized by blending Kashmiri classical sounds with modern music, indicative of his profound cultural heritage and innovative nature.
Upon finishing his master's degree in London, Lone came back to India, settling in Mumbai to follow his interest in music. He founded AR Music Studios, the first international music record label of Kashmir, with the vision of giving Kashmiri music a global platform. Through this initiative, he has worked with prominent artists like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Shaan, proving his versatility and dedication to musical perfection.
Lone's debut in Bollywood was with the Hindi movie "Shudra: The Rising" in 2012, for which he worked as the music director. He also received more recognition for scoring "Rubaru" in the 2020 film "Ginny Weds Sunny," a song nominated for Best Raag-Based Song in the 14th Mirchi Music Awards. His work "Allah Teri Kya Shaan Hai" for the movie "18.11: A Code of Secrecy" earned a nomination in the 7th Mirchi Music Awards, highlighting his proficiency in mixing age-old melodies with contemporary arrangements.
Aside from his work in film, Lone has also created hit songs such as "Harmukh Bartal," "Salam e Wazwane," "Peer Myanio," and "Dilbaro—Portrait of Love," which are based on Kashmiri culture and music. His commitment to spreading local music has earned him the nickname "The Valley's Jaan" in Kashmir, an indicator of his position as a cultural ambassador for the valley.
Aside from his music work, Lone became the Global President of the BRICS Culture Media Forum in 2024, promoting world peace and cultural exchange. He was also awarded the title of doctor from the International Eurasian University in October 2023 for his works in music and culture. His designation as an ambassador of peace by the Universal Peace Federation is another testament to his use of music as a tool for solidarity and harmony.
