Hariharan is a legendary Indian playback singer and ghazal master, celebrated for his soulful voice, unbelievable range, and effortless facility in crossing genres. With a career spanning more than four decades, he has left an unforgettable impact on both film and non-film music, captivating listeners with his heart-tugging performances and unmatched vocal skill.

Hariharan was born in Thiruvananthapuram and brought up in Mumbai. He was introduced to music from a young age and received formal training in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. Having a dual grounding allowed him the ability to marry complex classical technique with modern sound with ease, a talent that would become his hallmark.

Hariharan's achievement in playback singing arrived with the song Thamizha Thamizha of Roja (1992), created by A. R. Rahman. His collaboration with Rahman resulted in ageless classics such as Uyire Vennilave. Vennilave and Tu Hi Re, each of which highlighted his power to express strong emotions with gorgeous vocal control. He has recorded in several languages, such as Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali, establishing himself as an adored voice throughout India.
