Now Five Little Indians Available for Booking in These Cities
Five Little Indians were Neel Allan Arka Sayak Roheet. The band has been lucky to have bass players like Sandip Roy (a founding member) and Sanket Bhattacharya in its folds. Subhajit Mukherjee, handling sound, was the sixth Little Indian.
Biography-
Five Little Indians (FLI) was formed in January 2007. The band merged melodic rock and a heavier sound with singer-songwriter sensibilities. Its use of Hindustani classical vocals as another voice—and not as a ‘fusion’ ploy—resulted in a soundscape that could only be defined as its own.
FLI played its debut show at the Eastwind Festival '08. The band was featured in Stupidditties 2, a compilation of Indian "un-metal" music from Ennui. BOMB, supported by Counter Culture Records, the same year.
The band headlined the Autumn Festival 2009 at Shillong and then the prestigious Hornbill Festival in Kohima, Nagaland. In February 2010, FLI supported pop superstar Richard Marx for Rock'N'India, Bangalore, along with Swarathma, Jaycee Lewis, and Prime Circle from South Africa.
Recorded music from the band features Sandip and Sanket on bass. The band's unreleased EP was produced by Miti Adhikari.
In 2010, Five Little Indians created the soundtrack and background score to director Q's now-cult film Gandu.
Five Little Indians announced its split in 2011, following its individual members' decisions to go separate musical ways.
As of June 2012, Allan, Arka, and founder-bassist Sandip Roy continued to work as a trio in various avatars; Arka and Roheet form the rhythm section backbone of the quirky reggae-funk-meets-Bollywood outfit Ganesh Talkies; Sayak fronts Lakkhichhara, while Neel is pursuing a solo career. Subhajit is now based in Mumbai and is poised to make his mark as a producer/music director in Bollywood.
