About Gauri Kavi

Gauri Kavi is a renowned Indian singer and music teacher with a career of more than 25 years.  Hailing from Mumbai, she has contributed immensely to Hindustani classical music and also ventured into other genres.  Her passion for music was rooted at a very young age, thanks to her family's rich musical background.

Having been brought up in a family where classical music was a way of life, Gauri began her early training at home from her mother, who was a student of the great Pandit Phiroze Dastur of the Kirana Gharana.  She further polished her craft with Pandit Chandrakant Limaye of the Vasantrao Gharana.  Her passion for knowledge and perfection saw her continue her training with maestros like Pandit Yashwant Deo.  She also worked with renowned music directors such as Ashok Patki, Nandu Honap, and D. S. Garud, enriching her musical palette with versatility and depth.  Throughout her career, Gauri has performed in numerous stage productions, bringing traditional and contemporary elements together to create unique musical experiences. Her ability to adapt to different styles has made her a sought-after performer in the Indian music industry. Her live performances captivate audiences, and she continues to showcase her talent through concerts, collaborations, and recordings.

Aside from being a great singer, Gauri is also a devoted teacher. She co-founded the Swardhara Music Academy with her husband, Amol Mirajgaonkar, where they impart structured and scientific music training.  The academy gained fame for its holistic approach to music education, offering quality education to aspiring artists.

Gauri also actively interacts with her public on social media, where she posts about her musical experiences. Her work in Indian music continues to inspire the younger generation of musicians, keeping classical and contemporary traditions alive and well.
