One can say that Dark Helm is a group that has continually tended to break boundaries of the metal genre by blending it with the rich tapestry of world music influences. Known for their unique fusion of heavy groove-laden riffs and ancient and contemporary ethnic instruments, such as Sitar, Kyoto, Santoor, and Saz, these enable an evocative, genre-defying sound for the Dark Helm, sharply different from any typical metal band. Their music undoubtedly carries a strong power, making listeners take a thrilling ride blending the familiar intensity of metal and mysticism through global musical traditions.
The journey of the band took a huge leap with their second album, “Hymnus de Antitheist,” translated: A Hymn About the Antitheist, after their debut, “Persepolis,” which was distributed internationally by an L.A. record label on its international debut. There has been an 8-year gap between the albums, and during this time, Dark Helm has grown not only in experience but also in maturity, both in sound and songwriting. For this album, the band members Mohanish and Shubhrayu have taken a fresh approach to writing, mostly working independently in their own home studios. That is, the songs were only presented to the band when almost ready and therefore achieved a much higher level of tuning in and fine-tuning the creation process.
Now that the foundation had been laid, Arijeet brought some exciting and dynamic drum parts to the songs, and Dhairya made up the vocals, finishing the track. This new way of composition defines away from the band's former collaborative jam sessions, and this will definitely give a fresher and more energized sound that is ready to take on the world.
